Retired Boeing 747: A Time and Space Museum in the Zoo
When the massive hull of the Boeing 747 comes to rest amidst the greenery of the zoo, a wonderful encounter between industrial civilization and natural life unfolds. Once a passenger plane that soared through the clouds, it has now been transformed into a unique museum within the zoo. Its hull is covered with colorful animal illustrations—eagles-eyed giraffes, majestic lions, and gentle elephants—creating a vivid depiction of the vitality of the African savanna, captured within its metal shell.
Visitors enter the aircraft through a staircase. No longer a cabin for passengers, it now serves as a shop filled with playful souvenirs and educational exhibits about animals. The wings are equipped with safety railings, providing a great viewing platform from which visitors can overlook the zoo and gaze at zebras and baboons roaming nearby.
As the sunset casts a warm golden glow over the plane, children point excitedly at the drawings on the hull, while adults choose souvenirs featuring airplane and animal motifs. Tour buses pass by slowly, creating a poetic scene where modernity and nature blend together. This aircraft isn’t just a museum; it’s also a bridge connecting sky and earth, industry and life. It allows everyone who visits to feel the wildness of nature and the gentleness of time, all while surrounded by the lingering presence of this “steel giant”.
