This type of aircraft was developed by Boeing Company to fully occupy all grades of short and medium-haul passenger aircraft with 100 to 150 seats. It was born on May 20th, 1987, and stopped production in 2000, during which it was produced for 12 years. The standard cockpit layout of Boeing 737-500 carries 108 passengers. Because of its stable performance and strong versatility, it is very suitable for countries or regions with scattered passenger flow.
In addition, the development of Boeing 737 series has experienced four generations of updates and improvements, such as Original, Classic, Next Generation(NG) and MAX. Among them, 737-500 belongs to the second generation Classic series, which has concentrated the characteristics of high fuel efficiency and stable operation and won favorable comments from the market.
Although Boeing 737-500 has been discontinued for many years, it is still running in many parts of the world, especially in Asia. For example, airlines in Iran and Indonesia are still operating Boeing 737-500 aircraft with relatively old aircraft. In China, Boeing 737-500 once served in Xiamen Airlines and Hunan Branch of China Southern Airlines, but now it has all withdrawn from the passenger transport market.
