Boeing 737-700

posted the : 2024-02-21

Boeing 737-700 is a member of Boeing 737NG, which is one of the models of the new generation Boeing 737. The other two models are 737-600 and 737-800 respectively.

The Boeing 737-700 is 2.64m longer than the -600 (the -600 is 32.9m), but the fuselage length behind the wings is exactly the same (the fuselage length of the -700 is 28.3m, while that of the -600 is 31.5m). The main difference is that the wingspan of the 737-700 is larger, which is 2.44 meters higher than that of the 737-600. The main reason for increasing the wingspan is that the 737-700 can hold more fuel to increase the range. The thrust of the 737-700 is also larger than that of the 737-600, mainly by using engines with larger thrust and improving the installation design of the engines.

737-700 and 737-600 are sister models, and they differ only in fuselage length, with nearly 85% parts in common, and the cockpit, engine room, cargo hold and engine are the same. Because of the common design, the flight crew can fly from 737-600 to 737-700 without additional training.

The 737-700 made its first test flight on August 13th, 1997, and was awarded the type certificate of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Administration (JAA) on May 12th, 1998. In June 1998, it was delivered to the first customer, Lufthansa.
